Speakers overview

The Speaker role is for community members who deliver talks. It is optional — you activate it from the dashboard the first time you intend to speak at an event.

Why activate the Speaker role

Activating the Speaker role unlocks:

  • A public speaker page at /speaker/<username> that lists your bio, badges and approved talks.
  • A personal talk catalog: the canonical list of talks you can deliver, reusable across events.
  • The C4P (Call for Papers) workflow: browse opportunities and submit your talks to events.
  • A speaker feedback dashboard that aggregates all the feedback you received.
  • Speaker-specific badges (talk-creator, talk-instance, feedback received on your talks).

Activate the Speaker role

  1. Sign in to Emblema and open /dashboard.
  2. From the role selector, choose Speaker.
  3. The platform creates a Speaker profile and redirects you to /dashboard/speaker.

The Speaker area uses the purple accent. If the navigation is indigo or rose, you are in the participant or space view.

Public speaker page

Your public page is at /speaker/<username>. It shows:

  • Your bio and profile photo.
  • Your approved talks, grouped by topic.
  • Your public badges (Open Badges + platform badges marked as visible).
  • A Follow button so other Emblema users can subscribe to your updates.

The page honours the privacy settings of your base profile. See Sharing your profile for the QR code and embeds.
