Call for Papers
The Call for Papers (C4P) section is your discovery feed for speaking
opportunities. It is at
/dashboard/speaker/c4p and
sub-pages. Two complementary surfaces live here:
- Open opportunities managed inside Emblema by Spaces.
- External opportunities suggested by the speaker community (you can suggest one yourself).
Browse opportunities
The main page shows the list of currently open C4Ps. Each entry includes:
- Event name and Space.
- Submission deadline.
- Topics / tags the organizers are looking for.
- Format (in-person, remote, hybrid) and location.
- Estimated audience size and language.
- A direct submission button for opportunities managed inside Emblema.
Filters at the top of the page:
- Upcoming vs Submitted vs All.
- By topic / tag.
- By format / location.
The "Submitted" filter is useful to quickly review the C4Ps where you already have an application in flight.
Submit a talk to a C4P
For C4Ps managed inside Emblema, click Submit on the opportunity detail page. The flow is the same as creating a manual application:
- Pick a published talk from your catalog.
- Optionally tweak the submission notes.
- Confirm.
You will see the new application show up in
/dashboard/speaker/applications
in the Submitted state.
For C4Ps that link to an external form (Sessionize, Pretalx, Google Form…), the Submit button opens the external page in a new tab. Emblema cannot track the application status in that case — record the submission in your own notes if needed.
Suggest a new C4P
Did you spot a C4P that is not yet listed? You can suggest it to the community:
- From
/dashboard/speaker/c4pclick Suggest a C4P. - Paste the public URL of the C4P announcement.
- Submit.
Behind the scenes the platform uses an AI-assisted parser to extract:
- Event name, dates, location.
- Topics / tags.
- Submission deadline.
- Format and audience size.
A staff member or moderator reviews the parsed data and publishes the opportunity if it is a good fit. You will be notified once it is live.
Moderation keeps the feed signal-to-noise high. Spam, expired events, or C4Ps unrelated to tech communities are rejected.
Personalised recommendations
The opportunities list is sorted by relevance to your speaker profile. Emblema combines:
- The topics of the talks in your catalog.
- The languages and locations you marked as available.
- The format (remote / in-person) you accept.
You can override the sorting from the filter bar (e.g. sort by deadline).
Notifications
If you enable C4P notifications in
/dashboard/settings, the platform
sends you a notification (and optional email) whenever a new opportunity
matches your topics. You can fine-tune the matching threshold from the same
settings page.
Tips
- Submit early. Many C4Ps are reviewed on a rolling basis; talks submitted in the first 48 hours often have a higher acceptance rate.
- Match the topic, not just the title. Use the submission notes to explain how your talk fits the specific event focus.
- Track external submissions in your catalog notes. For C4Ps not managed inside Emblema, drop a note in the talk catalog to remember where you submitted what.
