Your profile
Your profile is the single source of truth for your public presence on
Emblema. You can edit it at
/dashboard/profile. The
Settings page at
/dashboard/settings hosts the
account-level options (notifications, account closure).
Fields you can edit
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Display name | Pre-filled from Google. Used everywhere on the platform. |
| Avatar | Pre-filled from Google. You can upload a different image. |
| Username | Your unique handle, used in /speaker/<username> URLs. Must be lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens. Once published you can still change it, but external links pointing to the old handle will break. |
| Bio | Free-form text shown on your public profile. |
| Country | Picked from a country selector. |
| Social links | Optional links to LinkedIn, X/Twitter, GitHub, personal website, etc. |
| Job title | Optional — useful if you also act as Speaker. |
Privacy settings
Each piece of profile data has a privacy switch. The most common options:
- Public — visible to everyone, including unauthenticated visitors of
your
/speaker/<username>page. - Authenticated only — only visible to other Emblema users.
- Private — only visible to you (and to organizers when strictly required for events you registered to, e.g. email for ticket delivery).
You can also hide individual badges from the public wallet. See Badges for the badge-level privacy controls.
Username rules
- Must be unique on the platform.
- Allowed characters: lowercase letters, digits and hyphens.
- Reserved usernames (e.g.
admin, dashboard) are blocked. - Once chosen, the platform stores a reservation in the
usernamescollection — even if you change the handle later, your old one is not immediately reusable by other users.
Following speakers and Spaces
From any speaker page (/speaker/<username>) or Space page
(/space/<spaceSlug>) you can press Follow to receive notifications when
they publish new content (talks, events, badges, opportunities).
Manage your follows from the Following section of your dashboard, or directly from the speaker/Space page (the Follow button toggles to Following).
Notifications
The bell icon in the top bar shows the unread notifications. Notification types include:
- New badge issued to you.
- A speaker you follow has a new talk or event.
- A Space you follow has published a new event.
- A new opportunity (Call for Papers) matches your profile (Speakers only).
Notification preferences can be tuned from
/dashboard/settings.
Account closure
Account closure is handled from
/dashboard/settings. Closing your
account removes your access; the Privacy Policy on emblema.live describes
which data is retained and for how long.
